The 12,000 square foot building was originally a private mansion and was donated to the school in 1944. It is now a City of Seattle landmark and it’s historic features inside and out are well preserved.
The project was a renovation and seismic retrofit of a 1915 masonry structure used as Upper School classrooms and administration space at the Bush School.
Our scope included brace frames, moment frames, shear walls, and the concrete elevator shaft as bracing elements; attachment of URM walls to floor diaphragms; replacement of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems; elevator addition; energy upgrades to the exterior envelope; masonry restoration; and relocation of interior partitions.
