With its clock and bell tower, Blakely Hall is an iconic community center for the residents of Port Blakely Issaquah Highlands.
Not only that, it also functions as the hub for the Highlands Fiber Network. LEED Silver certified, Blakely Hall makes extensive use of natural day lighting and ventilation, and environmentally friendly building products. It is also the first project in the United States to be awarded a Green Globes award from the Green Building Initiative.
This 6,900 square foot facility includes a great room and kitchen for hosting community and private events, a barbeque plaza, meeting rooms, offices for the community association, and a server room for the HFN.
The building’s most spectacular feature is the exposed timber framing that encloses the tall and spacious Great Room, creating the architectural character of a mountaintop lodge. Steeply pitched roofs, multiple dormers, and a bell tower provide the classy look of a village town hall that has become the favorite centerpiece of Highlands community events.
Rafn Company provided pre-construction services working together with Port Blakely and Weber+Thompson architects. Services included consultation for obtaining LEED certification, quality assurance for the building envelope, and design/build services for mechanical and electrical trades.
